When using a fire extinguisher, it's a good idea to remember P.A.S.S. It stands for:

1. Pull pin, Aim at top of fire, Squeeze handle and Straight short blasts
2. Position handle, Aim at the middle of the fire, Secure hose and Sweep side-to-side
3. Pull pin, Aim at the base of the fire, Secure hose and Sweep side-to-side
4. Pull pin, Aim at the base of the fire, Squeeze handle and Sweep side-to-side
